Some might argue that an anti aging routine in your twenties is overkill. But that’s not totally true. In fact, it’s a great time to start.
Why?
Because the preventative measures you take now can delay fine lines from appearing until well into your thirties.
Sure, estrogen levels are at their highest for women in their 20s, so skin tends to be well hydrated, healthy and plump anyway.
But each decade that ticks by in your life will still etch its mark on your skin.
So what should you be doing?
1) First and foremost, protect your skin from sun damage.
This means SPF protection for both your skin and lips with a broad-spectrum sunblock. Ideally, go for non-greasy brands made from refined titanium-oxide because they won’t clog your pores.
2) Get enough sleep and definitely don’t smoke.
7-8 hours sleep per night should do it. And smoking is just plain unhealthy and disgusting and ages your skin prematurely. Say no more!
3) Have a morning and evening skin care routine.
Now’s the time to make this a habit. Since oily skin is common for many of us in our twenties, use an oil-control face wash and toner both morning and night.
Plus make sure you moisturize your skin every single day, so it retains its elasticity.
Also consider exfoliating your skin once every week to remove dead skin cells.
They’re the main anti aging skin care basics to consider in your 20s. And you can probably save the more ‘heavy duty’ activities for a little later on.
